Our Staff

"Pastor Ed" has been our pastor since 1988. He grew up in this county and knows its history and people very well. His duties include Preaching, Disciple training, Pastoral Care, Administration, in addition to serving as a volunteer chaplain at Johnston Willis Hospital and as the Huguenot Society Chaplain. He has served as moderator of the Middle District Baptist Association of Churches in the region in addition to many other committee responsibilities. Ed and wife Karen have two children.

"Eli" has been our youth director since 1997. She grew up in West Virginia as a preacher's kid. She graduated from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond and was hired full time in 2001. Her duties keep expanding beyond the usual pace of ministering to our youth group with special events.

Becky began to serve with us in September in the areas of children's ministries. She has served several churches in the area and is on staff as a children's consultant at the Virginia Baptist Mission Board. She and husband, David, have three children.

Sharon began serving as music director in 1988 and took a break for three years to enjoy her new family life with husband Don. We welcome Sharon back to give direction to our music program.

Peggy has been serving Bethel since 1987. We all know what Peggy does. We found that out when she got sick one day. When you look up the word "secretary" in the dictionary, you'll find her picture listed as well.

Cathy has been with us since 1998. Her love for the Lord and this church are clearly heard every time she plays. Although she is in the background of service, we have appreciated the important gift she brings to uplift our congregation every Sunday.

Hazel is a member of Bethel and recently was certified to be a parish nurse with training from the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. Improving awareness of our congregation's health is a major part of this team ministry.
