Puppets

The puppet ministry team of Bethel Baptist Church began in June of 2000. The team decided that they wanted a name that would communicate our mission and purpose. After many suggestions the team voted on the name they liked the best. That name was WWPD which stands for, What Would Puppets Do? This is a variation of the popular WWJD, What Would Jesus Do?
In the beginning WWPD performed monthly in Children’s Church and quarterly for our once a month Contemporary Service called DIG (Dive Into God). WWPD also performs for special events in the life of Bethel Baptist Church such as Vacation Bible School and the annual Children’s Christmas Pageant. In 2003 WWPD starting performing at various places in the Richmond area such as Nursing Homes and Community Centers. The team has been on mission trips to North Carolina, West Virginia and other Virginia cities.
Currently WWPD has 10 members ages 10 through adult. We have over 40 puppets of various sizes and types. There are big mouth human puppets, animal puppets, human arm puppets, Veggie Tales characters, black light puppets (which we made ourselves) and a lovable monster puppet. Our repertoire includes fun uplifting songs, lively skits and puppet parables that demonstrate life lessons.
WWPD Mission Statement: To share the gospel of Jesus Christ with our Church, Community and the World through puppetry and the creative arts.
- Team Work – Strength comes from working together.
- Excellence – God deserves our very best efforts.
- Faith – Trusting God to take care of our needs.
- Encouragement – We will support and encourage one another.
- Commitment – Keep your promises.
- Leadership – The servant is the greatest in the kingdom.
- Worship – Let us Praise God through our words and actions.

* If you would like WWPD to come and share our message with you give us a call. We would love to hear from you.
